He also worked as a noted editor with Australia’s best composers for Boosey and Hawkes, directed the Canberra International Music Festival, Four Winds and other festivals, before creating The Flowers of War project to research music lost to war. The first musician to be appointed artist–in-residence at the Australian War Memorial, co-commissioner with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs of this work, the Diggers’ Requiem, the second of a planned set of seven Peace Symphonies that will act as symbols of the conflicts that Australia has served in. The first, the Gallipoli Symphony, was widely acclaimed and nominated for both a Helpmann and ARIA award. An education rooted in the Dutch music tradition (Margreet Honig, DNOA, Cappella Amsterdam) she went on to become a leading solo artist with one of the oldest theatres in Switzerland, Theater St Gallen (under the direction of the Intendant Peter Heilker) expanding her operatic repertoire to over 20 leading roles, working with acclaimed directors as Guy Joosten, Pierre Audi, Nicola Raab, Aron Stiehl, David Alden and conductors as Henrik Nánási, Marc Minkowski, David Stern, RoberHowart and Otto Tausk. She appeared to great acclaim in the 2010 and 2014 Canberra International Music Festivals. Her performance in the Triumph of the Heart concert was honoured with a 2014 Canberra Critics' Circle award.       <image:caption>Slovenian David Novak’s formal training began at the age of 7, by which time he had already taught himself to play several songs on his father's accordion. Throughout his school years he won a series of prizes, both national and international, culminating in 2014, when he won the European competition for accordion, organized by the European Association of Orchestras ONE©, and subsequently performed as soloist with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra at the Talentinum Festival (Czech Republic). She is the winner of the inaugural Mietta’s Song Recital Competition, the vocal grand final of the ABC Young Performer of the Year Award, the Robert Stolz/Apex scholarship to Vienna and the Belgian Radio and Television Opera en Bel Canto Prize. In 2008, Catherine and her colleagues in the Australia Ensemble received an APRA/AMC award for best performance of an Australian work, with the premiere of Nigel Westlake's concertino for clarinet and chamber ensemble, Rare Sugar. Catherine has performed as a soloist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and most of the Australian symphony orchestras. As regular Principal Clarinettist with the ACO since 1994, Catherine has toured nationally many times, and to the USA/ Europe in 2010. She has performed at many Australian chamber music festivals, including Huntington and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and has toured Australia with the Australian String Quartet and Selby &amp; Friends.       <image:caption>Zoltán Szabó is a cellist, educated in Budapest (Hungary) and Cincinnati (USA). As a member of the Budapest Trio, he came to Australia in 1985 to give a series of concerts as part of the Sydney Festival. After the tour, he was offered a position with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and he has been living in Sydney ever since. Zoltán has also performed extensively at festivals and recitals in Europe, America and throughout Australia, playing first with the Budapest Trio and later with the Bergonzi String Quartet. Zoltán worked as Principal Cello with Opera Australia (1992-2013). In 2000, he received a Churchill Fellowship. He has taught cello, chamber music and more recently, music history at the Sydney Con since 2003. In 2012, Zoltán began a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) at the University of Sydney. In 2014, he became a regular contributor to Bachtrack (London), one of the largest websites for concert and opera reviews in the world.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Anton Wurzer’s first professional engagement as an accordionist was at age 15. Jazz became his main interest in the early ’90s when he completed a degree in Jazz Piano Studies, followed soon after by a recording featuring accordion, violin and double bass. His recording “Live for Life” (2006) featured accordion and clarinet presenting musettes, tangos, javas, sambas and his own composition “Move Tango”. His latest recording, “Anton – Primitus”, presents his solo interpretations of classical evergreens from Bach to Khachaturian.</image:caption>

Rose currently researches and performs violin and piano repertoire of the early 20th century, but is also keenly interested in new and contemporary works. In 2016 Rose was the recipient of the Corinna D’Hage Mayer String Scholarship.</image:caption>

He relocated to Scotland, where he received solo piping tuition from world-class pipers and won many prizes in competitions on the Scottish Highland Games circuit. Having returned to Australia in 2011, Jason teaches piping through the Canberra College of Piping and Drumming and plays with the Canberra Burns Club Pipe Band. Jason has had notable successes in Australasia, winning among other awards the Maclean Highland Gathering Gold Medal 2016, and the R U Brown Adelaide Gold Medal 2014.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Percussionist Timothy Brigden has worked as a freelance percussionist professionally since 2004, with groups such as the Sydney Symphony, Synergy Percussion, Sydney Chamber Opera, Queensland Symphony, Australian Opera &amp; Ballet Orchestra; the Auckland Philharmonic in New Zealand and the BBC Concert Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Britain. He has recently returned from London, after fulfilling a contract with the Southbank Sinfonia; performing in many major UK venues including, among many others, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Opera House. Timothy is currently the percussionist for the Sydney run of Disney’s “Aladdin” at the Capitol theatre, and has played professional musical theatre productions previously in Australia and in the UK including “Les Miserables” and “The Sound of Music”. As an educator, Timothy has tutored at The Arts Unit NSW, including at state music camps; and at Barker College music department, amongst others. He currently tutors at Scot’s College and at The Conservatorium High School. He has been an adjudicator at the Optimum Percussion Eisteddfod and also the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod for the past two years.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The Australian-American pianist Edward Neeman has performed across five continents. Critics have lauded him as a “true artist” with “an excellent technique” who “isn’t afraid to put a distinctive stamp on whatever he touches, without resorting to mannerism.” A top prizewinner of numerous international piano competitions, including first prize in the Joaquín Rodrigo Competition in Madrid, Dr. Neeman has appeared as a soloist with the Prague Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Kentucky Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and the American West Symphony among others. Dr. Neeman’s debut album, Rachmaninoff &amp; Sitsky, was released to wide acclaim in March 2016. An enthusiastic collaborative artist, he has performed with musicians including Itamar Zorman, Abigail Fischer, Ben Capps, and members of the JACK quartet. Dr. Neeman has made numerous piano duet arrangements for the Neeman Piano Duo, in which he performs with his wife, the Indonesian pianist Stephanie Neeman. Dr. Neeman holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Australian National University, a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School.       <image:caption>Anna McDonald studied at the Canberra School of Music, the Guildhall School of Music in London with David Takeno and learned baroque violin from Catherine Mackintosh, Elizabeth Wilcock and Ingrid Seifert. She played with many British orchestras and chamber groups such as the English Concert, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, English Baroque Soloists, Purcell Quartet, I Fagiolini, London Baroque, London Classical Players and King’s Consort. She became leader of the Gabrieli Consort, Hanover Band and Newcastle-based Avison Ensemble. In 1998 she returned to Australia where she founded the Sirius Ensemble with Erin Helyard, and this ensemble expanded into the orchestra for Pinchgut Opera, for which she has led many productions. She also leads the ABC recording orchestra Sinfonia Australis, and its baroque arm the Orchestra of the Antipodes. She has played with the Australian Chamber Orchestra (including as leader), the Ensemble of the Classic Era and Ludovico’s Band. She leads the Mythra Ensemble, an East / West fusion ensemble, which combines traditional Middle Eastern instruments like the daf, kaval, kemancheh, darboukah and the bendir, with Western classical instruments such as piano and violin to symbolise the friendship between the cultures they represent.</image:caption>

As a chamber musician Paul has been fortunate enough to collaborate with numerous esteemed artists including Andrew Haveron, Andreas Ottensammer, Natalie Chee and Suzie Park and is currently cellist with the Omega Ensemble. During his time in Austria, Paul studied cello at the Universität für Musik Wien with Vienna Philhamonic principal cellist Wolfgang Herzer, whilst touring and performing throughout Europe as a freelance cellist. He is passionate about ensemble singing and has founded a number of groups in Canberra, including Clarion, HITT Dramatic Chorus, ANU Vocal Fry and Turner Trebles. This year he was appointed director of Canberra Children’s Choir (Music for Canberra) and from 2011 to 2016 was Artistic Director of Canberra Choral Society (CCS).
